(1) The line drawn from the eye of an observer to a point in the object where the person is viewing is called the line of sight.In above figure point O is a eye of observer and point P is a object so line of joining both point OP is a line of sight.
(2) The angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is above the horizontal level is called the angle of elevation.In above figure ∠POA is the angle of elevation.
(3) The angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is below the horizontal level is called the angle of depression.In above figure ∠BPO is the angle of depression.
(4) The height of an object or the distance between distant objects can be determined with the help of trigonometric ratios.
